What is the syllabus for ielts exam

IELTS is the brainchild of IDP Education Australia, British Council, and Cambridge English Language Assessment, and they are jointly responsible for conducting the exam. While the listening, reading, and writing sections are completed within the same day, the speaking section can take place a week before or after the exam.

IELTS Exam Syllabus 2021 - Check Section Wise Syllabus Here The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) generally has two formats- IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The syllabus of IELTS examination is based on the 4 categories that are: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking and based on these categories the candidates are scored. The IELTS is an English Language Proficiency exam that tests the English language ability of people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication. These two test versions differ on reading and writing modules as listening and speaking modules are same in both the test versions.

The IELTS exam syllabus of each of the 4 categories are: IELTS Listening (Same for Academic and General Training) The Listening Test includes 4 sections and overall, lasts for 3 minutes. IELTS reading, writing and listening are conducted on the same day whereas IELTS Speaking can be scheduled on the afternoon of the test day or within a week. There are 3 sections of the general training reading syllabus: Section 1 comprise 2 to 3 or shorter texts, Section 2 comprise 2 texts, and section 3 has a single long text. Academic and General, the sections of Reading and Writing are different while the Listening and Speaking sections remain the same for these two versions. IELTS is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia.

In Listening and Speaking sections, there is the same IELTS syllabus for all applicants while the parts of reading and writing IELTS syllabus differs depending upon the General and Academic Test.
